Student ethics pledge
Use AI to learn. Be honest about your work.
I agree to these expectations in AI Lab and to follow my school’s rules whenever I use what I learn.
- Do my own learning. I will not use AI to cheat, disguise outside work as my own, or complete work that must be done without AI.
- Help others learn honestly. I will not share methods, prompts, or tools for the purpose of helping others cheat or evade school policies. I can explain concepts and practice together when help is allowed.
- Ask when the rules are unclear. I will follow the assignment’s permitted-use rules. Lab permission does not override a school policy or a tool’s age and account rules.
- Show where help came from. I will credit sources and teammates, record material AI assistance, and explain my own contribution.
- Check the result. I will test code and measurements, verify important claims, and report mistakes.
- Protect people. I will use sample data, keep private information and credentials out of prompts, and never use AI to bully, impersonate, or harm someone.
- Respect access and equipment. I will stay within approved systems and activities. I will not bypass controls or use printers and tools without the required training and supervision.
- Speak up. If I make a mistake or see unsafe conduct, I will stop and tell the instructor so we can correct it.
Instructor-led testing of an example system must have a clear scope. It is not permission to attack a live system or bypass a school rule.

This acknowledges learning and conduct expectations. It is not a liability waiver, enrollment consent, media release, or permission to create accounts. The instructor collects signed forms through the agreed enrollment process, not this website.
